Chasing dreams endlessly comes naturally for Bosco Leslie Martis – and the proof is in the pudding. Having begun his dance journey with Farah Khan and Jaaved Jaaferi, Bosco took the leap of faith and started his independent practice with his partner-in-choreography Caesar.
After their first music video “Oye Shava” with singer Raageshwari, it was just one stage show gig with singer-sibling duo Shaan and Sagarika that turned things around for them. The ultimate combination of hard work and lady luck paid off and before they knew it, they were choreographing stars like Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukherji, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abhraham, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and the list goes on.
Basically, Bosco has choreographed every single star in tinsel town, with over 500 songs and 110 films to his name. Movies like ‘Mission Kashmir’ (2000), ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ (2003), ‘Swades’ (2004), ‘Bunty Aur Bubli’ (2005), ‘Bluffmaster!’ (2005), ‘Jab We Met’ (2007), ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ (2007), ‘3 Idiots’ (2009), ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (2009), ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (2011) would have been incomplete without Bosco-Caesar. Today, when we think of viral hook steps that had us giddy with adrenaline, Bosco’s name is one of the first few that comes to mind. Over 17 years of directing dance routines, Bosco has picked up a thing or two – or million – about filmmaking. After making the world dance to his tunes, Bosco is all set to turn filmmaker with his directorial debut, ‘Rocket Gang’.
Talking about his journey, Bosco Leslie Martis said, “I take it one day at a time. I found my passion for dance at a relatively young age and I owe it to this passion for igniting my love for filmmaking. When I first joined Bollywood as a choreographer, I never dreamt of turning director. Over the years, I have fallen in love with the art of filmmaking. So, turning director was a natural course of action for me. Today, Rocket Gang is my biggest dream coming true and I’m so excited to present it to the whole world!”
While his genre-defining movie is soon expected to hit screens, Bosco’s directorial dream is manifesting into reality. This is not just any other movie. Staying true to his roots, ‘Rocket Gang’ is going to be a dance film.
