The much awaited film, ‘RRR’ has finally released on March 25, after a long wait. Directed by ‘Baahubali’ (2015) director, S S Rajamouli, the film went on floors in the pre-pandemic era and was supposed to release in July 2020. The release was then pushed multiple times due to the Covid-19 induced lockdowns and restrictions. The film was all set to arrive in cinemas on January 7, 2022, but was pushed once again due to the third wave.
‘RRR’ stars NTR Jr and Ram Charan in lead roles. Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt star in special appearances and their presence has added star value for the Hindi speaking audiences. Just like ‘Baahubali’, ‘RRR’ will have an extensive release in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, etc., besides the original Telugu version.
The film had already generated hype but the trailer upped the excitement. It showed the grandeur and scale of the film and also that it’s a complete mass entertainer.
The advance booking of the Hindi version of ‘RRR’, however, is not that encouraging. Viewers have adopted a wait-and-watch strategy as probably, the actors are unknown and also because the ticket prices are skyhigh. If word of mouth is positive, it can grow exponentially on Saturday and Sunday. A bad word of mouth, however, will hamper the film big time.
There are talks that the surprise blockbuster, ‘The Kashmir Files’, will impact the film. However, there’s no chance as the Vivek Agnihotri directorial will be in its third week. Moreover, the film has shown drops from Monday. If ‘RRR’ is well made, nothing can stop it from becoming a smashing hit.
