A new epoch has finally begun, although a little sooner. Ever since she announced her upcoming album, ‘Renaissance’, fans were super excited and Beyoncé gave them a surprise by dropping her first single “Break My Soul” from her seventh solo studio album, few hours early on her official YouTube Channel yesterday. Beyoncé announced while dropping, “Bey is back and I’m sleeping real good at night.” The album ‘Renaissance’ was originally scheduled to be released on July 29. Later it was announced to release yesterday, June 21 at midnight.
‘Renaissance’ includes two more songs along with “Break My Soul”, which are Charli XCX’s “Used To Know Me” and Daddy Yankee’s “Pasatiempo” in sampling Robin S.’s ‘90s hit “Show Me Love”. The song “Break My Soul” is a disco themed song and its title is certainly flipped by saying, “You won’t break my soul” and the lyrics follow, “I’mma let down my hair cause I lost my mind/ Bey is back and I’m sleeping real good at night/ The queen’s in the front and the Dom’s in the back/ Ain’t taking no flicks but the whole clique snapped.”
‘Renaissance’ is a follow up album to Beyoncé’s ‘Lemmonade’ album, which was released in 2016 and also achieved her sixth solo no.1 album at the Billboard 200 charts. This was Beyoncé last solo album, till now. Later she dropped three joint albums, ‘Everything Is Love’ in 2018 and ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ and ‘Homecoming: The Live Album’ both in 2019 along with her husband, JAY-Z.
Beyoncé has recently also recorded “Be Alive” song for the Will Smith-starrer Oscar-winning film ‘King Richard’ (2021).
