Beyoncé omitted Lizzo’s name from her performance of “Break My Soul” in Boston, hours after a lawsuit against Lizzo was filed online. This could be seen as a subtle reaction to the allegations recently levelled against Lizzo and her team.
Three former dancers of Lizzo filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Tuesday, alleging that the singer created a hostile work environment and sexually harassed them.
Given that the Grammy-winner has built her career on celebrating body diversity and inclusion, the accusations against her have come as a major shock to fans.
As the lawsuit against Lizzo gained traction online, fans observed that Beyoncé appeared to remove Lizzo’s name from the list of past and present music icons she sings about in her song “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)”, which she regularly performs on her Renaissance Tour.
In the original lyrics, Beyoncé name-drops Lizzo alongside other music industry stars, singing, “Betty Davis/Solange Knowles/Badu/Lizzo/Kelly Rowl.”
