‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007), directed by Farah Khan was a commercial success and earned accolades for its music and performances, especially Arjun Rampal’s performance as the antagonist, who played the role of a villain named Mukesh Mehra. Arjun Rampal recently opened up about this film and said that he found Shah Rukh’s character Om Kapoor in the film annoying.
While speaking to Harper’s Bazaar India, Arjun Rampal was asked about how Om Kapoor’s character reeked of nepotism. Arjun voiced his displeasure with the way the character was portrayed and found his character’s rebirth as a “nepo” to be troublesome. He stated, “Shah Rukh Khan’s character comes as a nepo child when he is born the second time. It was a character I found annoying.”
Arjun also questioned the unfair advantage that star kids have over outsiders in the film industry. He exulted that if someone from a film family wants to enter the industry, they will have many options. According to him, this is due to the person’s fate and the family they were born into. He also stated that one cannot choose one’s family because it is predetermined.
