The 68th Filmfare Awards 2023 were conducted recently. The night marked the presence of the biggest and most talented superstars under one roof. Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Badhaai Do’ (2022) grabbed multiple honours on the star studded night. Apeksha Porwal, who essayed the character of Komal, Sumi’s (Bhumi Pednekar) first love in the film, shared a special message congratulating the entire team.
The actress wrote, “Huge congratulations to Team ‘Badhaai Do’ on sweeping victory at Filmfare. I am so grateful to have been a small part of this monumental film, a film that so beautifully addresses the issues of the LGBTQ+ community without being patronising.”
“Given the current case being heard in the SC on the same-sex marriage bill, I hope this film that resonated with audiences and critics alike, does its part in a creating a more accepting society in India toward the LGBTQ+ community”, Porwal further added.
Apeksha Porwal is currently making headlines overseas for being the first Indian to lead an English-Arabic web series titled ‘Slave Market’. She is also currently working on the next season of ‘Slave Market’ and other multiple projects back to back and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the audiences.
