The Lok Sabha Elections are in full swing in India and just a few days back, it was the turn of Mumbai and its people to come out in large numbers and vote for their choice. However, it ended up being so that there was hardly a count of about 60% people coming out to vote.
This percentage includes everyone from every sphere of the society in Mumbai.
Bollywood too came out in large numbers to vote for the election. From Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sohail Khan, Arjun Rampal, Riteish Deshmukh, Varun Dhawan, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Emraan Hashmi, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan and many more were some of the big names from Bollywood who came out to vote.
But amidst all these names, if there was one big name missing from the industry who didn’t come out to vote, it’s none other than that of Akshay Kumar.
What raised eyebrows about Akshay Kumar having a Canadian citizenship now was the fact that even his wife, Twinkle Khanna could be soon turning up at the poll booth to cast her vote. So, the fact that Akshay was missing raised thoughts on whether Akshay is currently having a Canadian Citizenship or not.
Akshay Kumar’s absence hasn’t gone down well with people overall and trolls and critics have called him a ‘Pseudo Nationalist’ who only capitalizes on nation centric films but doesn’t turn up to vote when it’s needed.
However, one cannot deny one nice thing about Akshay. Whenever the country needs funds for an important issue be it for social causes or for military purpose, Akshay Kumar is always there right at the front to help.
But that being a separate thing, voting to decide your government is an equally important task and Akshay whatever be the reason didn’t do it this time. What’s more surprising is the fact that when a reporter asked Akshay Kumar at the screening of ‘Blank’ about why he didn’t vote, he simply giggled and dodged the entire question and scenario saying ‘Chaliye Chaliye’ (Move ahead, move ahead).
The fact that he didn’t vote might have a reason. But what’s shocking is that he decided to avoid a simple question.
