For all Akshay Kumar fans out there, we have some amazing news in store. The actor has announced the release date of his upcoming film. The untitled film, which is directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, will hit the theatres on September 1, 2023.
Akshay Kumar shared the happy news with a teaser poster featuring himself. Along with the announcement post, the actor wrote, “We are ready for take off! Production No. 27 (Untitled) releases in theatres worldwide on 1st September, 2023.”
The film also stars Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal in crucial roles, while Suriya, who played the lead in the original, will appear in an important cameo in the film, as per reports. The film was announced in April last year.
Talking about the film, it is an official remake of the National Award-winning film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ (2020), which had Suriya Sivakumar, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal in lead roles and was inspired by the life of G R Gopinath. The film was released globally on Amazon Prime Video on November 12, 2020, and was directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad. It was produced by Suriya, Jyothika and Guneet Monga, who recently won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film for her film ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ (2022).
Talking about Akshay Kumar‘s work front, the actor was last seen in ‘Selfiee’ (2023), which was directed by Raj Mehta and had Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty in the lead alongside Akshay. The actor is currently shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, which pairs him for the first time with Tiger Shroff. It is scheduled for a December 2023 release.
