Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is thrilled about her new upcoming Tamil movie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ (The Son of Ponni), which is based on the novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ written by Kalki Krishnamurthy, originally written in Tamil. It is a historical fiction based on the life of Rajaraja Chola I before he became a king. The movie is directed by Mani Ratnam and he also mentions that this historical fiction is his dream project.
Due to the pandemic, the shooting of the film stopped but now it has resumed. The director revealed that 75 percent of the movie has been shot already and Aishwarya is in Pondicherry to do the rest of the shooting. She is playing a dual role of Nandhini and Mandakini Devi in the film. The historical drama has an epic star cast which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Sobhita Dhulipala, Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj and several others.
The ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (2008) actress dropped the first look of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ on her Instagram. This is likely to be the first part of the movie as the film poster says “PS-I”. Aishwarya played historical figures in her past movies too and they were all extraordinary. We are all eagerly waiting for it in 2022.
