Even without a trailer coming out, Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ had generated buzz for itself. Of course, there was excitement ever since Karan Johar announced a film with Aishwarya Rai, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Karan and his team played it smart by unveiling the posters, a teaser and two song promos before unveiling the trailer. The promotional material did its trick and people waited with bated breath to catch a glimpse of the trailer which was expected to give them a better idea about this romantic drama.
The string section, that presumably serves as the prelude for a Bhangra number, which plays in the beginning of the trailer as Ranbir renders a few dialogues, sounds, well, annoying. The camaraderie shared by Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) and Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) sets the tone for the trailer that teases us without revealing too much about the equation shared by the four principal characters (Aishwarya and Fawad Khan being the other two). Fawad’s role has been credited as a special appearance but it seems to have a lot of relevance to the plot. The trailer, which starts on a lighter note soon introduces us to some high voltage dramatic moments. You also get to see a glimpse of a major star who has done a cameo in the film (hint: hit pause at 1:40 minutes into the video).
The trailer succeeds in familiarising the audience with the feel and look of the film and gives one a idea of what to expect from it. While doing so, the makers are careful enough to keep the storyline under wraps.
‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ releases on 28 October 2016.
