‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’, director Aditya Dhar’s ambitious project, seems to be encountering challenges yet again. Since it had been revealed that the hot-budget project was being restored with Ranveer Singh supposedly in the titular role, things have drastically changed. According to recent claims from the website Peepingmoon, the sci-fi superhero movie has once again been stalled due to budgetary concerns.
The director was working on the project since the release of his film ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (2019) and had announced that the film will be made with Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan in the lead while Ronnie Screwvala will bankroll it. But things didn’t went as planned and the first wave of the Covid forced the makers to put the project on the back burner. Later, it was announced that both Vicky Kaushal and Ronnie Screwvala are no longer a part of it and that Jio Studios has agreed to come on board for this sci-fi film as producer.
But as per the latest buzz, the film has again been put on hold as the budget requested by Aditya Dhar was rejected by Jio Studios. The production house felt that given the current state of the market’s unpredictability, the director’s idea for this movie was not commercially viable. Reports also said that if the film failed to meet expectations, it could even lead to the studio’s shutdown. Aditya then stopped the pre-production work on the project after realizing the risk involved.
