The performances of its lead actors, Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon are commendable. The screenplay is too slow and predictable. Furthermore, the VFX is deemed to be subpar. It is expected to be much better after spending an extra six months on it. Saif Ali Khan’s CGI was neglected. The casting of some of the supporting characters could have been better. The film takes some liberties with the original Ramayana story. Showing the romance between Lord Ram and Sita with songs will not go well with the paying audience. This may be off-putting to some viewers who are expecting a more faithful adaptation. The use of Sanskrit is limited and they use words like ‘Baap’. Its focus on action and spectacle may not appeal to viewers who are looking for a more character-driven story. Even though it is said to make reference to Ramayana, it does click as too many modifications destroyed the aura and magic of Ramayana, which is ingrained in viewers’ minds. ‘Adipurush’ is a mixed bag and a disappointment that is unlikely to leave a lasting impression. It may even be a boring film for many who went with huge expectations. It would make a better watch on OTT.
