Not many would recall that Abhishek Kapoor actually started his career in Bollywood as an actor. He did films like ‘Uff Yeh Mohabbat’ (1997), ‘Aashique Mastana’ (1995) , and ‘Shikaar’ (2000) as the leading man. But soon, he made a transition to going behind the camera and directing some of the most amazing movies like ‘Rock On’ (2008), ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013), ‘Fitoor’ (2016) and ‘Kedarnath’ (2018). He has been one of the most successful celebs who have made such a smooth and fantastic transition from one medium to another.
While talking to Free Press Journal, Abhishek Kapoor says, “Many of those who have been in the spotlight for a while are not able to switch to another profession. They don’t know what to do with themselves because wherever they go, they are recognised as an actor. Making the switch is one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done and today, I bring my experiences and understanding of human beings to the table to help my actors make this world their own”.
But does Abhishek Kapoor ever feel like returning back to acting? “No”, says the ace filmmaker. He goes on to candidly add that when someone fails as an actor, they can get demoralised very easily as they are the main product, while as a businessman people are not selling themselves as they’re not the product.
On the work front, Abhishek Kapoor is almost done with the final editing of his upcoming film ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in the lead. The film will be out for release soon.
