After his sci-fi film ‘Mr. X’, starring Emraan Hashmi, which released last year and received a lukewarm response from the audience, writer-director Vikram Bhatt is back with ‘Love Games’, a film that stars Patralekhaa, Tara Alisha Berry and Gaurav Arora in the lead roles. In this interview, he discusses the film which is touted to be a thriller and talks about the darker side of relationships in the urban world.
You had stated that ‘Love Games’ is inspired by your life. Elaborate.
There was a time when I was dating a girl who was into threesome and other kinds of sexual relationships. I do not judge people based on their sexual preferences. After spending some time with that girl and looking at the girl from her point of view, I realized that there was a world within a world. There is the underbelly of a city which everybody ignores and that, ironically, is the reality of the world we live in. I wanted to bring this world to the fore through this film.
The film explores the darker side of urban relationships and touches upon several bold topics which a certain section of the audience might be oblivious to. Do you think the audience is ready to watch such a film?
I think people are fairly aware of what is happening around them. We keep saying that the audience is not ready to watch films which have bold content. The audience has been ready to watch these kinds of films for a long time. The filmmakers do not give the audience what they want.
