As expected, ‘Airlift’ maintained a good hold on its second Friday as well. The fall from Thursday (INR 50 million) to Friday wasn’t much as the film netted around INR 45 million more. As a result, the film currently stands around the INR 880 million mark.
With the kind if appreciation that is coming for the Raja Menon directed film, it was pretty much on the cards that the film would trend well over the weekend. With a good number of screens available for it, the film was quite good in the evening and night shows when the family audience started setting in.
The film would have good collections today and tomorrow would see a very good jump. Moreover, the film pretty much has an open ground for itself as ‘Mastizaade’ has opened to bad reviews. Again, reviews are not a problem for this genre but word of mouth is. That too is not really favorable. On the other hand ‘Saala Khadoos’ too is way too niche, which means its reach is limited to pockets. Even 100% jump in collections on Saturday and Sunday won’t really impact ‘Airlift’ as there is a wide gap in collections.
As a result, ‘Airlift’ is now set to score INR 1 billion before end of second weekend. This is a huge high for the Akshay Kumar starrer as the film is now set to dominate right through the week. Hit! Also, this would be Akshay Kumar’s fourth INR 1 billion affair after ‘Housefull 2’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Holiday’.
‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ has totally crashed on its eight day. While it is hardly running at a show or two in select multiplexes, the collections were in the range of INR 2.5-5 million. The film has just about touched the INR 300 million mark.
Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
