While fans are still enjoying and cherishing the Rani character in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ (2023), Alia Bhatt is back to take everyone’s breath away with another bold performance in ‘Jigra’. This is the first time the actress has joined hands with director Vasan Bala, who is famous for his dark and deep storylines like ‘Peddlers’ (2012), ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ (2018) and ‘Monica O My Darling’ (2022).
Today Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has just dropped the title announcement of ‘Jigra’. Interestingly, this is also co-produced by Alia with her Eternal Sunshine production house.
While dropping the release date on Instagram, Johar wrote, “The return of…my #Jigra, @aliaabhatt once again on this exceptional story helmed by @vasanbala. A story of unbreakable love & unshakeable courage! JIGRA – in cinemas on 27th September 2024.”

The announcement video shows a deep side of Alia Bhatt’s character, where she is seen standing with sheer tiredness and disappointment. In the background, it can be heard she is saying, “Dekh, dekh mujhe. Meri rakhi pehenta hai na tu? Tu meri protection mein hai. Tujhe main kuch bhi hone nahi dungi. Kabhi bhi. (Look at me. You wear rakhi from me right? So it’s my responsibility to protect you. I will never let anything happen to you).”
After receiving expectational love from the world for her big Hollywood debut ‘Heart Of Stone’ (2023), it’s truly amazing to hear about the 30-year-old actress’ return to Bollywood with such a strong character.
