The Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) is one of the most celebrated film festivals in India. It began in 1995 and in these twenty-seven years, it has been inspiring many with its glorious journey. Although the festival was somewhat confined to the more sophisticated and learned fraternity, just a decade ago in 2011, the doors of this gala event were opened to the masses. Since then, KIFF has become quite mainstream and popular.
Like every year, the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) was organized by the Information And Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal. It was held on December 15 and will conclude on December 22, 2022.
The festival kicked-off with a star-studded event, where celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherji and several eminent personalities graced the inauguration ceremony and made the night shimmering at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
To make the 2022 edition memorable, KIFF presented an artistic memento to Amitabh Bachchan, which featured his character from ‘Sholay’ (1975) and Al Pachino from ‘Scarface’ (1983). In the poster, both the legends are seen posing as firing with AK47 in their hands. It was so well edited that it seemed like both had shared screen space. While expressing his gratitude, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on Instagram, “Cool poster for the KOLKATA international film festival.”
The picture has garnered more than two lakh likes within 24 hours. Fans are also seen surprised with such innovation and flooded the comment section with appreciation.
Surely it was an indelible gesture from the Government of West Bengal.
