Finally after a long casting search for the prominent roles of the legendary Jamaican singer, Bob Marley for his biopic, we got to know from Deadline website that Paramount Pictures have signed Kingsley Ben-Adir for the titular role and Lashana Lynch for Bob Marley’s wife, Rita Marley.
Lashana was the last person, who was signed for Rita Marley’s role. The makers were trying to find someone of Jamaican descent and they selected Lashana, though she was born in England, her family came from Jamaica. According to reports, even Rita Marley herself approved Lashana for the role.
Bob Marley’s songs are still one of the most loved songs generation-after-generation, even for today’s gen-Z listeners too, which proves that Marley is gone, but not forgotten. Bob Marley died due to cancer in 1981 at the age of 36. His most loved songs are “Get Up, Stand Up”, “No Woman, No Cry”, “Jammin”, “Could You Be Loved”, “One Love”, “Ganja Gun” and many more.
The yet-to-be-titled biopic will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, whose last film ‘King Richard’ (2021) won an Oscar. On the other hand, Kingsley Ben-Adir was last seen in ‘One Night In Miami’ (2020) and Lashana Lynch was last seen in two big films – ‘No Time To Die’ (2021) and ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ (2022).
