Who can ever forget Joaquin Phoenix’s marvelous performance in ‘Joker’ (2019)? It was one of the most prodigious works of the actor after ‘Gladiator’ (2000), ‘Her’ (2013), ‘Mary Magdalena’ (2018), among others. The sequel of ‘Joker’ was confirmed by director, Todd Phillips a few days ago on Instagram, where he posted two pictures; first one, the front page of the script, which is written by Phillips himself along with Scott Silver and also unveiled the striking name of the sequel, ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’. And the second one was a black and white picture of Joaquin Phoenix, reading the script, while smoking a cigarette.
After the news came out, fans all over the world went gaga, mentioning how they are thrilled to see the sequel.
The striking news about ‘Joker’ sequel doesn’t end here! Recently, it’s been reported that Lady Gaga is in talks now for the ace role of Harley Quinn. The character was first created for ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ in 1990, as Joker’s one and only real companion, apart from Batman.
Previously in other ‘Batman’ franchises, Harley Quinn was portrayed by Margot Robbie and she has absolutely nailed it in each franchise and also in other films like ‘Suicide Squad’ (2016), ‘Birds Of Prey’ (2020) and ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021). Even Joaquin Phoenix has won Best Actor at the Academy Awards for the role of Joker aka Arthur Fleck.
According to Variety website, the making of ‘Joker’ sequel is also still in talks and that’s why it’s not confirmed yet whether Lady Gaga would also contribute any music to the project. Lady Gaga has worked with Todd Phillips before too in ‘A Star Is Born’ (2018), which Phillips has produced. ‘A Star Is Born’ had earned Gaga an Oscar for the songs and also an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
