One of the most beloved actor from the ‘70s and ‘80s, Michael J. Fox, turned 61 years old yesterday, June 9 and fans have taken to the social media to celebrate the big day. Born in Canada in 1961, Fox rose to fame with the role, Alex P. Keaton on the NCB sitcom, ‘Family Ties’ (1982-1989), but he is mostly known for his role titular role, Marty McFly in the film ‘Back To The Future’ trilogy, since 1985 to 1990, which were commercially blockbuster hit.
After that, Michael has became one of the most demanding actor in the industry and has given numerous remarkable projects including ‘Teen Wolf’ (1985), ‘The Secret Of My Success’ (1987), ‘Casualties Of War’ (1989), ‘Doc Hollywood’ (1991), ‘The Frighteners’ (1996) and many more. Fox returned to work on TV in the ABC sitcom ‘Spin City’, where he portrayed the lead role of Mike Flaherty from 1996 to 2000.
In 1998, Michael J. Fox publicly disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson disease seven years earlier. Later he subsequently became an advocate for finding a cure and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help fund research.
Michael J. Fox has won several prestigious accolades including five Primetime Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Grammy Award. For his work of advocating a cure for Parkinson disease, he received an honorary doctorate degree in 2010 from the Karolinska Institute.
Fox was last seen in a major role on the NBC sitcom ‘The Michael J. Fox Show’ (2013–2014). After that he got retired from acting in 2020 due to his declining health.
