Morgan Freeman, the legendary veteran star, turns 85

Morgan Freeman is considered as one of the greatest actors and an acting icon in his generation and also distinctively known for his incredible narrations and deep voice. The actor turned 85 years old today, June 1, 2022.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, US, Morgan begun his career as a dancer at the 1946 World’s Fair and was also a member of Opera Ring musical theatre group in San Francisco. He started his acting career with ‘The Royal Hunt Of The Sun’ drama in 1964 and also appeared as an extra in the film ‘The Pawnbroker’ in 1965. Later he realized that acting is where his heart lays. So he left his dance work and joined the Off-Broadway theatre and made his debut there in 1967 with ‘The Nigger Lovers’ drama, a show about the Freedom Riders during the American Civil Rights Movement.

In 1971, Freenman started working in children’s TV shows like ‘The Electric Company’, which gave him financial stability and also rose to fame among the audiences. After that, he appeared in the Shakespearean plays ‘Coriolanus’ and ‘Julius Ceasar’ in the same year, for which he earned Obie Award, his first award in life.

Freeman’s massive break out film ‘Street Smart’ (1987) made him win his first Academy Award nomination. He achieved further stardom by giving numerous remarkable works like ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ (1994), ‘Se7en’ (1995), ‘Batman Begins’ (2005), ‘The Bucket List’ (2007), ‘Dark Knight Rises’ (2012), ‘Ollympas Has Fallen’ (2013), ‘Now You See Me’ (2013), ‘Oblivion’ (2013) and many more.

Morgan Freeman was last seen in ‘Vanquish’ and ‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ in 2021. He will be next seen in ’57 Seconds’, which has begun its filming on April 11, 2022 around Lafayette. The time-travel thriller is based on the story of ‘Fallen Angel’ by E.C.
