One of the most long waited Marvel’s upcoming film ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ is all set to release in theatres on this May 6. Fans from all over the world are super excited and eagerly waiting for it to release. But recently it’s been reported that the film got banned in several countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other Gulf countries.
The director of the film, Sam Raimi has recently spoke about the issue and said that in these countries, LGBTQ community depiction is strictly prohibited, “Strange is still learning about the Multiverse and here’s a character that can actually travel through it. He’s such a know-it-all all the time and to have to learn from a kid probably smarts.” The Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer has a character named, America Chavez, played by Xochitl Gomez and the character is a lesbian.
Few other films have also faced the similar situation previously too such as ‘Eternals’ (2021) and ‘West Side Story’ (2021). Even production companies had to censor few kissing scenes and intimate scenes too in films like ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (Episode 9)’ (2019) and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019) before as these things are also illegal in those countries.
