One of the most celebrated ’90s movies, Beta clocks 30 years

Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit Nene shook the box office in 1992 with ‘Beta’ and became the force behind the biggest blockbuster of that year. Starring alongside Madhuri Dixit Nene, the evergreen actor ticked all the boxes of what makes a massive entertainer.

Anil Kapoor’s innocence of a son devoted to a stepmother (Aruna Irani), his love for his wife, Saraswati (Madhuri Dixit Nene) and the struggle to discover the harsh reality, all struck a chord with the audience across the nation, translating into a box office phenomenon and awards. The versatile star won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his nuanced performance in the family drama. ‘Beta’ also earned various other honours at multiple award shows.

While speaking about the movie, Anil Kapoor said, “The writing of ‘Beta’ was revolutionary for that year. It had many layers with women in charge, the very topic of discussion today. I had the best time working on it with Madhuri Dixit and Aruna Irani. Thirty years is a long time, but the memories of shooting it are still very fresh in my mind.”

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor is gearing up for a power-packed year. He has ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’, ‘Thar’, ‘Animal’ and ‘Fighter’ on the horizon.
