Ahead of the hugely awaited ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’s 3rd February release, Sony Pictures Entertainment is bringing the first ever immersive virtual reality gaming experience with haptic techonology in India, enabling everyone to experience Alice’s biggest fight against the undead as she races to save the humanity from complete oblivion. And the virtual reality game will be experienced by none other than the ‘Dabangg’ actress of Bollywood, Sonakshi Sinha. Sonakshi who herself loves to kick ass in films was more than happy to be associated with this kind of a unique gaming experience.
The experience, dubbed “The Road to Raccoon City” serves as a perfect complement to the upcoming high octane flick, featuring content from the movie, complete with voice over from ‘Alice’ actress, super star Milla Jovovich. It features the renowned HAPTIC technology to simulate a zombie attack, as users wear VR glasses and a vest that provides vibration and audio feedback while they shoot at zombies projected on-screen with a gun.
Flagged off in Japan for a world tour, the immersive Haptic gaming experience is a result of cooperation between Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), video production company Sony PCL, and parent company Sony Corp.
The Haptic experience has been brought to India as the most innovative marketing stunt ever for any film. Japanese engineers are specially flying down to set it up in Mumbai.
Vivek Krishnani, MD – Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) India, who’s had a first hand on experience with the game confirms, “Since this is the last installment of the Resident Evil series and culmination of Alice’s incredible journey, we wanted to make it truly special and extraordinary for fans of the game and the franchise. This is a first for India and from my personal experience, I can say, you haven’t seen this kind of immersive gaming experience for any other film ever. It takes you and places you right in middle of the movie. This is likely to be a trend setter for other films to follow in the country.” He adds that this is also in tune with the fact that India is a major fan base for video games.
One of the most commercially successful franchises of all time, ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ is the last of the series which brings back superstar Milla Jovovich and her allies as they set out to fight the final battle.
So make sure you are a part of Alice’s final journey through this virtual reality cum Haptic technology equipped game that is going to be available for you in Mumbai for four days at Phoenix Mall (Palladium), Lower Parel from 26th January – 29th January 2017.
