After releasing the soul stirring title track of his new film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, Karan Johar now unveils “Bulleya”, a rock number that gets sufi-sque touch from Amitabh Bhattacharya’s poetry that spells passion in bold letters. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays a singer/performing artiste in the film, gets to mouth lines rendered by Amit Mishra who has earlier sung for Pritam in ‘Dilwale’ (“Manma Emotion Jaage”) and Dishoom (“Sau Tarah Ke”). Though some would say that the song adheres to the now-familiar sound of sufi rock that has begun to sound jaded, “Bulleya” oozes passion and sincerity. The sonorous sound of the electric guitars, drums and dholaks complement the energy of a lovelorn Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) who goes all out to proclaim his love.
The video moves back and forth between Ranbir’s performance with his band and his interaction with the two leading ladies, Aishwarya and Anushka. It focusses more on Ayan and Aishwarya’s (Saba) relationship and does not really explore the dynamics of the one shared by Ayan and Alizeh (Anushka Sharma). Some of the clips, which one saw in the video of the title track, have been used here again but you do not mind as they all fit in well within the context of the song.
The trailer of the film is yet to be released but the two songs have done the trick and have given the promotional campaign the impetus it needed. The excitement levels are high and waiting for the film to release on the 28 October 2016 is indeed ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
