Director Ashutosh Gowariker handles the Panipat battle with maturity and shows that he has an in-depth knowledge about the subject. The epic battles and the historic clash between the Marathas and the combined forces are wonderfully displayed on the big screen. While he takes some creative liberties, he mostly gets it right. All the three main actors, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kirti Sanon deliver the best for their roles and with integrity. The supporting characters such as Mohnish Bahl, Milind Gunaji, Padmini Kolhapure and Zeenat Amman are not really necessary as their roles are not properly written. The soundtrack and background score is disappointing. Ashutosh Gowariker replicates what the audience has already seen in ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (2008), ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015) and ‘Padmaavat’ (2018). For a period drama, the length is unjustified as well as the editing. ‘Panipat’ needs to be watched on the big screen for its costumes, sets, acting and battles.
